New Ground

by Paulien De Saeger

Paulien De Saeger is a Belgian artist working primarily in pastels. At the centre of her work is the animal itself. Through highly detailed drawings, she explores the beauty, individuality, and vulnerability of animals, inviting viewers to reconnect with the natural world through observation and memory. Alongside her artistic practice, she holds a master’s degree in Geology, a scientific background that continues to shape her understanding of nature and its fragility.

Paulien also creates commissioned portraits of dogs, cats, horses, and other beloved pets, capturing the details, character and personality that make each animal unique. Created in pastels from photographs, the portraits are a way to honour your special companion and preserve the memories shared. More information: www.pauliens-pet-art.com/commissions/.

Inspired by Diego's journey from Sweden to the UK, this artwork captures the moment of stepping forward into a brighter chapter and a happier new beginning. His journey echoes that of the moon bears, finding a new life and better future in the UK. A single step towards new ground and a new beginning.
